2021 April National Teacher of the Month

The Teacher of the Month award is designed to recognize an employee that exemplifies our core values, which are compassion, humility, integrity, loyalty and discipline. This month we are pleased to announce that our 2021 April National Teacher of the Month is Ms. Maren of Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool of Four Points.

In talking about how Ms. Maren exemplifies LSP’s core values, Assistant Director, Ms. Stephanie said, “Maren is a very hard worker and stays on top ofApril 2021 Teacher of the Month daily tasks with wonderful organizational skills. She is punctual and has done a beautiful job in the Head Teacher role, helping to create a wonderful work atmosphere. She is also the first to lend a helping hand when needed and is up for any type of challenge that gets thrown her way.”

What age group do you teach?
Twos

What is the name of your classroom?
Where the Wild Things Are

What do you love most about the age group you teach?
They are reaching so many milestones that are so exciting!

What is your favorite curriculum project you’ve ever done in your classroom?
We created a beautiful process art rocket last year for our transportation unit. It was so fun to let the kiddos be creative and make something so beautiful.

What do you enjoy most about working for LSP?
I love the sense of community. It feels like more than just a job to so many staff members that I have interacted with, and everyone checks up on each other.

What made you want to become an early childhood educator?
In college, my favorite class that I ever took was Early Childhood Development. The brain and body are growing so much, and it is so exciting to see all the changes come together. I love working and playing with the kiddos!

Who and/or what inspires you?
My family inspires me. They raised me to be kind to myself and to others, and I want to teach that to my students.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
My favorite things to do on the weekend are watch movies with my husband, and brunch after sleeping in on Saturday!

Tell us one special fact about yourself that no one would expect.
I speak Dutch! I grew up in Holland, so I picked up the language.
