2022 National Teacher of the Year

At Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool, we are firm believers that our preschool teachers are the game-changers. They show up each day eager to educate, connect with and inspire their students.

To continually honor our passionate educators, we identify and award a National Teacher of the Month each month. This award is highly regarded among our staff and is just one way we continually invest in our educators who make Little Sunshine’s Preschool loved by so many families across the nation.

After receiving hundreds of nominees throughout the year and a ton of great feedback from families on the Teacher of Year Nominees, we are pleased to announce Ms. Jessica as the 2022 LSP National Teacher of the Year.

Ms. Jessica is from our Schaumburg, IL location. She started in March 2017 at our Willowbrook location as a preschool teacher. She didn’t really enjoy the age preschool at first so she switched to the infants’ classroom and LOVED it. She was with LSP Willowbrook until 2019. She left LSP for another childcare company closer to home. Once she learned our Schaumburg location was going to open, she wanted to come back to LSP and we immediately brought her back!

When asked what inspires her Jessica responded, “coming to work and feeling lifted up by management, my fellow head teacher, and staff members. Leadership always knows how to lift me up when I am feeling down and helps keep me positive. I always strive to have a positive attitude no matter what. The LSP family as a whole has truly made me feel like I am making a difference and helping inspire other teachers and children every day.”

Here’s what LSP of Schaumburg’s Program Director, Colleen, had to say about Ms. Jessica, “We are so excited and proud that Ms. Jess has been awarded the Teacher of the Year for 2022! While being with us at Schaumburg, she started as an infant teacher and was promoted to head teacher shortly after we opened in May 2021. It was obvious that Ms. Jess would be an amazing head teacher for our new school as she truly knows all things LSP. When she was nominated for teacher of the month last year, she also was an early preschool teacher for a few months until we found a perfect teacher for that age group. She assisted with hands-on training and really helped mold the classroom during that transition period. Ms. Jess goes above and beyond for her students in her classroom as well as displays exceptional customer service skills to families when she is up at the front desk. Words that we think of when we think of Ms. Jess are: positivity, growth & mentor. She is such an amazing staff member and her positive presence throughout the school is contagious. Ms. Jess is an excellent mentor to all of our staff members and a very attentive teacher! We can definitely see her growing even further within LSP. Congratulations Ms. Jess, we are so proud of all of your hard work and displaying excellence throughout each and every day. We love you!”
