March 2022 National Teacher of the Month

March 2022 National Teacher of the Month

The Teacher of the Month award is designed to recognize an employee that exemplifies our core values, which are compassion, humility, integrity, loyalty andMarch 2022 Teacher of the Month discipline. This month we are pleased to announce that our 2022 March National Teacher of the Month is Ms. Jessica of Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool of Schaumburg.

In talking about how Ms. Jessica exemplifies LSP’s core values, Assistant Director, Ms. Lizzi said, “Jess is such a BLESSING! The moment she left Willowbrook I was saddened to see her go. I knew we would cross paths again. Once Schaumburg was getting ready to open, she wanted to jump back into LSP after being with a different company. Ms. Jess is an amazing Head Teacher. She takes initiative in everything she does. She is always on time (meaning early), super reliable, and can get multiple tasks completed in a timely manner. She always has a smile on her face and is a positive figure at LSP Schaumburg. She cares deeply about her staff members and is always willing to go the extra mile for them. Colleen and I both feel 100% at ease with having her lead our school when we are not present. Love you so much, Ms. Jess!”

Here is some fun information about her and what makes her such a standout!

What age group do you teach?
Two’s

What is the name of your classroom?
Under the Sea/ Head Teacher

What do you love most about the age group you teach?
I absolutely adore how quickly the kids at this age can create friendships. They all form such strong bonds at such a young age and it’s amazing to watch them grow! I also enjoy watching them figure something out for the first time! The way their eyes light up is something that is unexplainably amazing.

What is your favorite curriculum project you’ve ever done in your classroom?
For our forest curriculum, I gave the two-year old’s a slab of homemade play dough, flower petals, sticks and rocks and let them explore it freely. It was so much fun to watch them split it up with their friends and see what they created with the simple items given to them!

What do you enjoy most about working for LSP?
The community. I absolutely love the family I’ve created while working with LSP. Everybody works together as a team and that’s something that I haven’t found in other companies. I also love that we clean our own classrooms. It’s so nice to see teachers take a pride in the way that their classrooms look and feel!

What made you want to become an early childhood educator?
My kindergarten teacher left such an impression on me, she cared so much for our class that she moved up to first and second grade with us. She always took the time to make sure that we were heard, and we always had a fun time in her class. From then on out, I can’t recall ever wanting to go into any other profession.

Who and/or what inspires you?
My Mom. She has always worked so hard to be the best Mom out there and always aspired to create a safe, loving environment for her children. If I’m half the person my mom is, I’d be lucky.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I enjoy reading, exploring nature and working out
