May 2024 National Teacher of the Month

The Teacher of the Month award is designed to recognize an employee that exemplifies our core values, which are compassion, humility, integrity, loyalty, and discipline. This month we are pleased to announce that our 2024 May National Teacher of the Month is Ms. Macaiah of Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool of Alpharetta, GA.

In talking about how Ms. Macaiah exemplifies LSP’s core values, Program Director, Ms. Liz said, “Macaiah is not only our BIGGEST cheerleader, she is loved byMs. Macaiah, May 2024 National Teacher of the Month all she comes in contact with! Parents absolutely love her, and the children adore her. Macaiah is always willing to lend a hand and be a team player. Her creativeness sets her apart and continues to amaze us each new theme that is announced and can be seen on her classroom bulletin boards each month. Parents are constantly complimenting her and never want their children to move on to the next classroom. You can often hear children excitedly yelling “Caiah, Caiah” down the hallway when they see her. We grateful that Macaiah is a part of the Little Sunshine’s Playhouse of Alpharetta family and we just LOVE her to pieces!”

What age group do you teach?
Two’s

What is the name of your classroom?
Where the Wild Things are

What do you love most about the age group you teach?
I love teaching the twos age group because I am one of the first to see a child’s most important moments! For example: potty training! Working with two-year-old’s is so fun and rewarding and the work environment is fun and creative. There are so many learning opportunities for this age because this is the age where they become even more curious and dive headfirst into learning. Another thing I love about this age is they are the sweetest and love cuddles!

What is your favorite curriculum project you’ve ever done in your classroom?
The outer space curriculum was my absolute favorite because there were so many things to do. We recreated each planet using different types of textured paint and my kids had a blast!

What do you enjoy most about working for LSP?
I enjoy working for Little Sunshine’s because of my coworkers and my management team. They make this job fun and I’ve created a new family working for Little Sunshine’s. I also love how Little Sunshine’s Playhouse does monthly themes and lets you explore within. One theme, a thousand ideas!

What made you want to become an early childhood educator?
My kindergarten teacher Ms. Rosson was my inspiration. She helped me with things I didn’t think I could do but she made it possible. She helped me get out of my head and made learning fun and I still talk to her to this day.

Who and/or what inspires you?
My stepmom inspires me because she has been there for me since day one. She has taught me how to become independent and loving. She had the choice to love me and chose to. She inspires me to reach for the stars and taught me not to give up on my dreams.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I enjoy reading mystery books and writing. I love to write poetry and my own books. I enjoy going to the movies with my friends and watching all the new Disney movies. I love exploring and finding new animals to bring home.
