The Teacher of the Month award is designed to recognize an employee that exemplifies our core values, which are compassion, humility, integrity, loyalty, and discipline. This month we are pleased to announce that our 2023 March National Teacher of the Month is Ms. Laurie Beth of Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool of Overland Park, KS.

In talking about how Ms. Laurie Beth exemplifies LSP’s core values, Program Director, Ms. Mikayla said, “Laurie Beth is a fantastic teacher, she is lovedMs. Laurie Beth, March 2023 National Teacher of the Month by both parents and peers alike. I have never met someone with a more “can do” positive attitude than Laurie Beth. She is so loving and nurturing to both her students and her peers. The activities that she creates and does with her class are unmatched in their creativity and education. We are so thrilled to have Laurie Beth on our team. The school simply would NOT be the same without her sweet spirit, beautiful smile, and warm heart. We love you, Laurie Beth!”

Working for LSP, I gained a second family! The love and support I have received in the time I have worked here is unforgettable and means so much to me.

What made you want to become an early childhood educator?
I always knew I wanted to work with children. Maybe because I’m a big kid at heart! Although I don’t have any kids of my own, the connection and bond I have with the ones I work with, makes it feel like I have 10.

Most definitely, my mother! The way she and my father raised me, and my siblings are inspirational. I grew up with love, respect, and encouragement to learn. Those are the exact things I have in my classroom. Thank you, Mom and Dad!

I really enjoy painting, making jewelry, and all arts and crafts! My free time is spent playing and loving on my two adorable dogs and loving and supportive husband. I also enjoy cleaning.
