May 2022 National Teacher of the Month
May 2022 National Teacher of the Month
The Teacher of the Month award is designed to recognize an employee that exemplifies our core values, which are compassion, humility, integrity, loyalty and discipline. This month we are pleased to announce that our 2022 May National Teacher of the Month is Ms. Beth of Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool of The Woodlands.
In talking about how Ms. Beth exemplifies LSP’s core values, Program Director, Ms. Karri said, “Beth is amazing! She is one of our original staff members and has been with us for almost six years. She is a lead teacher in the Emerald City classroom. Beth has never met a challenge that she is not up for. Not only is she willing to help with the red carpet, but she also mentors our new teachers, fills in wherever she is needed, helps the head teachers and has cheerfully traveled to several other LSP locations to help them out. Beth writes really creative Reggio-inspired lesson plans and loves to collaborate with the kids to incorporate their ideas into the lessons.”
Here is some fun information about her and what makes her such a standout!
What age group do you teach?
Pre-kindergarten
What is the name of your classroom?
Emerald City
What do you love most about the age group you teach?
I love the hands-on interaction with my children! They are very inquisitive and are always wanting to learn, explore and grow.
What is your favorite curriculum project you’ve ever done in your classroom?
During the transportation theme, my kids and I chatted about the things that they wanted to learn about the theme. The boys wanted to learn about cars – how they go, what makes them go fast, etc. so we created a STEM project to explore those things. We built a set of ramps out of cardboard and raced our cars after discussing which cars would be the fastest. After racing them, we discussed the results, so the kids had a great lesson on the force, speed, and motion
What do you enjoy most about working for LSP?
I love the wonderful staff that I get to work with. The management team is extremely supportive, fun, and outgoing. I love the family environment from the home office all the way down to each school. I love Abby – she is so fun!
What made you want to become an early childhood educator?
My passion for children and early childhood education made me want to become an educator.
Who and/or what inspires you?
I am inspired by music and our children. My Dad was a huge influence and inspiration to me. My fellow teachers and the management team inspire me through their support and encouragement.
