October 2021 National Teacher of the Month

October 2021 National Teacher of the Month

The Teacher of the Month award is designed to recognize an employee that exemplifies our core values, which are compassion, humility, integrity, loyalty and discipline. This month we are pleased to announce that our 2021 October National Teacher of the Month is Ms. Lindsay of Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool of Four Points.

In talking about how Ms. Lindsay exemplifies LSP’s core values, Program Director, Ms. Kelly said, “Since being promoted to Lead Teacher, Lindsay had wowed usMs. Lindsay, October 2021 Teacher of the Month with her thoughtful and age-appropriate lesson plans. She always makes sure her kiddos have lots of super fun projects each day. Her upbeat personality and positive energy have lifted the two’s room to the next level.”

Here is some fun information about her and what makes her such a standout!

What age group do you teach?
Two’s

What is the name of your classroom?
Where The Wild Things Are

What do you love most about the age group you teach?
Their amazement at the smallest things. For example, rain and the existence of mirrors to a child is just absolutely mind blowing.

What is your favorite curriculum project you’ve ever done in your classroom?
We spent a week making projects to donate to an animal shelter (blankets, rope toys, catnip toys, etc.) and at the end of the week each student got to go to the “Little Sunshines’ Animal Shelter” and pick out a stuffed animal friend to take home, with an official adoption certificate!

What do you enjoy most about working for LSP?
I love my coworkers. There are so many times when they are the ones that get me through the day, and I know they have my back even if things are insane.

What made you want to become an early childhood educator?
I didn’t originally plan on it – I was in school to be a Secondary Education English teacher and worked at my first center over one summer. I love how much freedom there is with it, and how much you get to watch the littles explore the world for the first time! Never looked back and have been doing it ever since.

Who and/or what inspires you?
The people I worked with when I first started ECE. Laurie, Angela, Sarah, you’re the reason I strive to be a good teacher, and you all took me under your wings when I needed it. You were not only outstanding teachers I aspire to be, but amazing friends.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
So many things! I’m the Queen of Hobbies. I bake, play Dungeons and Dragons, play video games, read a ton, and have dabbled in probably every type of crafting under the sun!

Tell us one special fact about yourself that no one would expect.
I love to sew, and love being Ms. Frizzle and coordinating my outfit our theme!!
