March 2024 National Teacher of the Month

The Teacher of the Month award is designed to recognize an employee that exemplifies our core values, which are compassion, humility, integrity, loyalty, andMs. Tiffany, March 2024 National Teacher of the Month discipline. This month we are pleased to announce that our 2024 March National Teacher of the Month is Ms. Tiffany of Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool of Gilbert at Val Vista.

In talking about how Ms. Tiffany exemplifies LSP’s core values, Assistant Director, Ms. Kim said, “Mrs. Tiffany truly embodies what the Reggio Emilia philosophy is; she consistently brings incredibly thought provoking and fun activities to our Pre-K class. One of her pictures were even featured in our LSP monthly newsletter! Each day I eagerly check their pictures and go into their class to see what fun crafts and projects they did that day. Above all else she genuinely cares about the children, always is willing to lend a helping hand and loves to help boost morale among her peers! We are thankful to have her at our school and can’t wait to see what other fun you come up with!”

What age group do you teach?
Pre-K

What is the name of your classroom?
Neverland

What do you love most about the age group you teach?
What I love most about this age group is their curiosity. They are curious about everything; they ask the best questions and when they learn something new it’s magical! The growth and discoveries made by our class are truly amazing.

What is your favorite curriculum project you’ve ever done in your classroom?
My favorite project we have done is our “Becoming Art / Living Museum” project. Each child picks a piece of art they want to become. For example, the Mona Lisa by da Vinci. The child then goes to work in becoming the art piece picking out different fabrics from our loose parts to wear. We then take their portrait and transform it into a masterpiece. Why it’s become my favorite is because of how serious the kids take ownership of their picture. Each child has studied the face and pose in the art piece to get it just right. Then when their art piece is revealed the joy and excitement in their eyes is so rewarding!

What made you want to become an early childhood educator?
I have always felt a connection to educating young minds and helping them develop a love of discovery and knowledge.

Who and/or what inspires you?
I am constantly inspired by the curiosity the kids have about the world. It has been so much fun to explore the questions they have and discover the answers with them.

Outside of work I love to create! I crochet, watercolor, and write. I love to read and continually learn. The best moments however are the ones I get to spend with my family.
